Gas Works

Cover for gas meter

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.41 PM

Currently the gas meter is on the ground in the conservatory. However the conservatory is being demolished and nothing will be replacing it. The dedicated tyrolean rendered bit of outside wall, to which the gas meter is attached, will remain (its a strange bit of single brick wall that sticks out from the main wall of the house .. ). But this will leave it with the top and front no longer being covered/enclosed. Any suggestions on what would be best to protect the gas meter from the elements. (It doesnt seem to have a backplate of any worth to attach a front cover to .. unless a front cover is screwed directly into the uneven surface of the tyrolean rendered wall).

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I would remove some of the Tyrolean to create a flat surface. Could then make a wooden box with felt on top, but meter needs to be accessible and secure.

The gas meter will need to be housed in a purpose built gas meter enclosure. The meter will also require an earth bonding and pipe sleeve through the wall where it enters the property
