Boiler flue above carport
Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 3.41 PM
I had a carport fitted to the side of my house, however, I did not think that sometime in the future I would have to fit a new boiler. The gas flue is above the carport and gas engineers are not able to access it. What do I do? I do not want to have to take the carport apart as it cost me a lot of money to have it fitted, along with an infill above the gate.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
Hi, I would use scaffolding planks, placed across the support beams, which would help spread the weight of the man or woman accessing the car port roof to carry out any necessary repairs.
Best wishes,

Use a truck mounted cherry picker for access it’s much safer and no risk to damage of property or injury, or a proper scaffolding tower again minimum risk to damage of property and no risk to injury.
The other answer wouldn’t be inline with health and safety regulations steer clear from anybody who doesn’t follow these standards, theirs still a big risk of falling through the roof with that method and falling through will result in injury and damaged property, I assume the carport roof is fragile plastic sheeting too?

I would prop the car port using acrow props and scaffold boards to the undeside of the car port.
Then I would board the car port above so the plumbers could work in safety.
