wet UFH system off current system with 2 zones

Anonymous user 1 March 2024 - 2.57 PM

I have a oil boiler, not combi. I have 2 sets of heating 1 for the main house and 1 for an annex, they can be on at separate times. I am putting a wet underfloor system in the annex, a national company is installing and screeding but will not connect to the boiler. Local companies would lay and connect but not screed. I am struggling to get someone to connect as they say it would fall on them if there was an issue. I found someone but they said it would have to connect to the hot water tank which didn't match what the national company were saying as they said it was like connecting another radiator. Any ideas? I really wanted to remove all radiators in the annex but still be able to utilize the timer which is connected to the current boiler The pipes are being laid and screeded on Monday so I really need advice on whether connecting to the boiler but annex side od controls or whether it does in fact need connecting to the water tank which is significantly more hassle

underfloor heating is usually on a seperate circuit as it normally runs longer than radiators. however if you are doing away with the radiators you could have the underfloor connected to that in the annex.

Hi, why don't you have the plumbing contractor lay and connect the UFH, then have a screeding contractor install the screed?

You can lay the UFH test it and leave under pressure without having to connect to main system. Lay the screed allow 28 days to cure and then connect to main system once it’s ready. Most people who do UFH will know plenty of screeders and arrange them to come when the UFH system is complete. If the engineers know what they are doing there won’t ever be a problem. Should’ve used a local firm rather than a National firm

The very very first step is to calculate if your boiler is big enough to accept the additional needs Only then would I go forward
