Replacing Meter Boxes

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.45 PM

Hi there Happy New Year! I've purchased 5 new gas meter boxes for my building but wondering do I need a gas certified person to come to replace them or could I/handyman replace them? I can't seem to find any clear answer online. Thanks Gill

you will need to disconnect the gas to be able to fit them so you will need a gas safe engineer

Please use a Gas Safe Registered person - it is quite obvious and clear that pipes route through these gas meter housing safety boxes to supply the household. To fit one would require pipework adjustments and fitting. Rather than research the net contact the appropriate Gas Safe body as you would if it was a water query the water body likewise with electrics. A handyman has limits safety should have no limits

Depending on the boxes you have But i personally believe that you would be better of with a gas safe registered engineer rather than a handy man

Please use gas safe registered engineer, as pipes would need disconnecting. Handyman’s are not allowed to work on gas pipes.
