Newly built porch has condensation badly
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.41 PM
I’ve just had a new porch built on the front of my house, it’s a block porch with a concrete floor. It has very bad condensation on both the window and door. It doesn’t have any air bricks in it so would that make the condensation go away? I need to get a radiator in the area but don’t want to put anything in there whilst it’s so wet. Any advice please
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi Laura, the condensation is probably being caused by warm air from the house if attached and the cold/damp air from outside. Ventilation and a radiator in there would certainly almost solve your problem.

Hi, the lack of a heat source will cause condensation inside of the porch.
Installing a radiator would certainly help. Does the porch have a window with a small vent?
Fitting a small vent can also help if it doesn't currently have one.
If this doesnt work you can insulate plaster board internal of the full porch. (a bit excessive for a brand new porch though)

Hi
One of the biggest problems is moisture from the new porch which is in the floor slab, block work and plaster, the porch we need some ventilation probably best through the roof fascia vents,Breathable felt that’s if you have a tiled roof,
You need to let porch to dry out you will always find that winter months it will condensate, better in warmer months.
Leave window open to let porch air.
