Anonymous user 1 March 2024 - 2.57 PM

Looking at getting our Integral Garage converted but wanted to do in stages as in the basics first so want to confirm doing the below would get it to that stage. It already has electrics, lighting and there is only one external double skinned wall. - Gargare door replaced with wall/window - floor done - External wall insulated and plastered - heating installed such as radiator This way we have time to do the rest such as - covering boiler - switching internal fire door to normal one - laying floor as in tiles/carpet etc - painting/ decorating - other misc cosmetic bits Thanks in advance

All the above all ok But you will need to build another block or stud wall inside to from a cavity You will also need lAy on the floor some Celutex 100 mm on the floor over a1200 g sheet and screed over with 75 mm floor screed

Yes you will require a studded or inner thermalite block wall to create a cavity at front of garage, need to check whether garage foor can take a brickwork may require a footing or concrete lintel installed to carry brickwork. Inner floor check to see if the is a existing polythene membrane, cellatex inner floor to required level put 24mm chipboard 600mm x 2400mm tongue and groove floor boards to form a floating inner floor. There are obviously a few things to look at prior to commencing work .
