Roofing Question

Leakage in roof ?

Our pitched roof is joined with next door neighbours and theres a gutter or trough that runs down the centre to collect rain water and sends into drainpipe. When we have a heavy downpour the wallpaper gets damp. Slates are in place and felting also. Not sure about next doors' though,
any ideas on what could be the cause for dampness ?

without looking at your roof it is impossible to say , could be a cracked tile,a worn tile. your best bet is put it on the site and get a local roofer round to check your roof

It is either splits to the lead valley/gutter or a blockage causing the gutter to become overburdened during heavy rainfall. The valley boards may be too shallow behind the tiles and felt.

Any good roofer will identify the cause immediately.
