B&Q Door Quality

Anonymous user 5 May 2021 - 1.27 PM

Hi, I need to get my doors hung at my renovation. In your opinions are B&Q internal doors good quality? Seems as though similar doors at Howdens are nearly double the cost. Do you have suggestions of where to source doors from? Thanks Thanks for the response - we are not going major expensive. For example howdens oak door is around £200 but b&q have the similar door for £97 but the reviews are not so great for b&q where people have said where they need to have the b&q door adjusted/shaved there is only a thin layer of vaneer and exposes chipboard quickly. I want good quality doors so it does not look cheap but not looking to spend thousands when I have 10 doors to sort or is that just something I need to accept? Thanks again

A lot of the internal doors on the market today are made of the same sort of materials. (depending on how expensive you are going with them.) if you are looking for a standard pre-finished internal door, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't go with the cheaper option. There is always a very slight difference but for the difference in price, it isn't an issue. I hope this was helpful.

Hi Gsoora1 The quality will be comparable to a howdens doors. I have been using howdens over 10 years now and have never had B&Q beat them on price. Do you have account with howdens? Their prices are very hit and miss depending on how well you get on with the manager.

100% I would recommend Howdens it works perfect when in some cases I need to reduce the width of the door, the lip either side is tick enough to achieve our specific needs. B&Q doors are good enough only if you don't shave them, only hanging. I hope this was helpful.

Personally my doors are usually from either XL joinery,Howdens, doors direct, doors superstore etc. They’re solid doors, obviously the oak & hardwoods are veneered with lippings on,but then they sell the cheap egg box doors aswell. In my opinion the B&Q doors I’ve used have been rubbish & I’ve swung a few but they’ve all been egg box doors & I haven’t tried their higher priced doors yet,the egg box doors still swing the same, they’re just hollow. You could try other merchants like Wickes,Buildbase, even Screwfix sell doors, most places sell doors that are from different manufacturers or order them from somewhere like the door superstore.
