Sandy patches on new concrete driveway.

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.40 PM

My new concrete driveway was recently laid, pattern stamped and sealed. I noticed imediately that there were numerous dark sandy patches all over the driveway. Does anyone know what the cause might be? Is this normal? Thanks

I think you will find that the colour topping surface hardner has not been correctly applied,as in not enough colour has been thrown on to the top of the concrete. Therefore you get shady spots and basically patches of concrete with not enough colour. That said if the colour was added to the concrete in the wagon, then it hasn’t been mixed properly. If it’s been applied after the concrete is laid you need to have a word with your person who did the driveway. You can tint the shady spots but would have to strip the sealer, and apply the correct colour tint in with the new sealer. Hope this helps.
