Plumbing Question

How long does it take to fit a kitchen sink?

A builder has charged me for 6 hours to fit a fairly new sink from the kitchen to an outhouse with just cold water to it. He has already charged me for supplying the water and waste for a washing machine to be installed there. At £30 an hour this seems excessive to me, can anyone give me some guidance please?

You should agree on a price BEFORE work is carried out.If you did,i cant see the problem. If you didnt, then its up to you whether or not you pay it.Cant imagine any decent builder working in this fashion.Next time, make sure you know exactly what you are getting and for how much. You get your quote and you take it or leave it.Its the only way of eliminating problems like yours.

it would probably take approximatly two hours. depending if pipe work needed moving . also you would of been better of with a fixed price rather than an hourly rate

It shouldn't take anymore than an hour and a half to fit depending on how much pipework needs changing and also how much of the kitchen top will need to be cut out

Looks a little heavy, but to be fair, every guy charges his own rates, some cheap and nasty, some excessively heavy, some. ( like me) a fair price, can't quote a job without seeing it, should agree before hand , I do have terms and conditions set out in my quotes which allows fair prices to be charged for if you dont agree a price before hand
