Roofing Question

Lead flashing

Hi

Looking to had flashing put on rear addition. Option 1 sounds a thorough job. But is Option 2 ok as well?

Option 1
Remove top row of tiles and cement flashing to back addition wall. Lay new tiles where necessary, fit new 300mm Code4 lead flashing and re-point lead work with a 3 sand and 1 cement mortar mix.

Option 2
Lay 300mm Code4 lead flashing over existing cement and tiles. Fit a galvanised stop-bead over lead-work and to wall then with a 3 sand and 1cement render to wall.

Option 1 - Sounds like the correct way to do the job

Option 2 - Sounds like Heath Robinson's way of doing things

It is not recommeded to point lead with mortar as it cracks over time .

I would suggest you use this or similar
