can i mount a 50" plasma tv on chimney breast.

we have a 50" plasma tv and would like to mount it on chimney breast,we have a working coal fire,is it safe to do so.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

no it is not safe to hang electrical goods of any sort above a working fireplace

As long as the TV is 1m above the working fire and the live fire is recessed into the opening, then you will be fine, but check manufacturer's guide lines.

The heat from the fire will melt some of the bottom edge of the tv, and totally destroy the flat screen. Also a fire risk.
