Fencing

Fence between two properties

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 2.54 PM

When i built my house there was just fields to the left, I had a fence put up all the way along. They have now built on the land, which caused my concrete plynths to break and the fence became unstable. The builder put his own fence up which left a foot between the two fences. I could not afford to replace my fence so i took it down. Now the neighbours are all saying i have stolen a foot of garden from them!!! I certainly do not want more garden than i already have! It was their decision to place a fence where they did, they could have used mine. Can they make me replace my fence?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

I can't see how they could make you replace your fence if they have got one up already. At the end of the day the worst they can do is move there fence to the boundry line hope that help's you

No they can't make you put up a new fence and if they don't move there fence over to the correct boundary then after 11 years the ground will become yours if you use the ground and they don't. sit tight, do nothing, the ball is in their court. Kind regards Paul

Do absolutely nothing other than to tell them that they can move the new fence to where the old fence was at their cost as you did not erect the new fence. But also point out that if they want to do that, they have to have your permission to set foot on your land. 2 can play games!!!
