Groundwork & Foundations Question

House built on a rock

I am thinking of buying an 130 year old property which is built on a large rock. Are the foundations likely to be more sound than the same property built on something else or does it having being built on a rock not make it more beneficial or it makes no difference?
Thank you

I suppose it depends on the type of rock if granite the founds are likely to be minimal especially at that age but solid and not very prone to movement. Whereas if limestone or sandstone may have problems, but it`s been there 130 years, so not likely to be a problem now.
