Old grouting when retiling

i am having my kitchen floor retiled do i have to get up the old grouting it remains and is ridgy will affect the new tiles being laid down

by the sound of it its the old adhiesive that remains normaly the grout comes up with the tiles when they are lifted just make shure all loose adh is removed the tiler will either use self level compound or a thick layer of new adhiesive when re tiling

You will have to remove ANYTHING that stops the floor from being flat.The best tiler in the world isnt going to do a decent job on a lumpy substrate.
