Old plaster wall

Ive taken old wallpaper off chimney wall and ive patched in all holes and cracks on the original plaster, how should i seal it before applying a dark blue matt finish?? Thanks

Use jointing meshes, PVA, polifiler with fibre, (isolat from chummy if in use)

Yes you have to seal it, let it dry and paint it after.

Pour (dark blue) paint for the first & second coats in a paint kettle and thin down with 10-20% water apply paint as normal, apply additional coats of in thinned paint as required

With a watered down mist coat of the paint you will use as top coats

If you've taken wallpaper off you do need to make sure you have got ALL the paste off. To be safe you can use Zinsser Guardz to seal the wall. This will give you a base coat (colourless) that seals the paste residue so it wont react with the paint. It also means you don't need to thin your paint coats. Don't use PVA though otherwise you could end up with damp issues in future.
