Whats the best way to hire a handyman? do you pay them by the project or by the day assuming you have a few small projects for them to do?

Hi,i think the best way is go to a site like my builder, then you can read feedback, if you are supplying materials, and they are little jobs you can ask for his day rate but this could work out more, best to have price, and pay part payment at the end of first day, and the rest at finish, after the first days work you will know if your happy or not best wishes rigsby property mainteance.

Asking them to provide you with a fixed quote would be the best way. If the job then takes 3 hour or 5 hours its their win/loss. Most tradesman prefer this way of working. Whilst a day rate is ok if you have a lot of jobs, really there is no incentive to finish before the day is out, so some will take longer!
