Is there a smart way to buy a kitchen?

Anonymous user 17 February 2020 - 1.55 PM

I just got a quote from Wren, it seemed very high. I'm now wondering if there is a better way to buy a kitchen? Any advice would be much appreciated.

There are loads of kitchen suppliers that supply to household and trade, it would all depend on you budget of course; Howdens are technically a trade only outlet but if you find a tradesman / kitchen fitter local to you they will likely have an account and share their terms, same for magnet ( the two compete against each other quite well ). always find a tradesman where kitchens form a large % of their work, they will be experienced in many manufacturers and should have a good team around them. As far as quality goes, if your budget can stretch to it, go for a german kitchen if possible; we were Kuhlmann dealers for 14 years and the quality was superb - right up there with ALNO; Siematic etc...best of luck !

Hello, The best way to get a fair price is to visit wickes, than take their quote to Homebase and the onto Magnet and so on and then go back to Wren and ask if they can beat the cheapest of the three prices. Make sure that they look for a reputable kitchen fitter. Hope this helps Many thanks Adam Adam Burnett Kitchens

Hi, I would advise to get several quotes from larger companies and then quotes from kitchen fitters who offer both supply and supply and fit services to help compare prices. Going on my own recent experience I managed to get a local small company to manufacture, supply and fit a small bespoke kitchen for less than wren quoted (same style and no of units) Don't be rushed into making big purchases by larger companies as their offers often run one after another. All the best. Richard.

The answer to your question is yes, when you go to a company like wren, magnets etc. You pay for the companies overheads of their staff, showroom, logistics and manufacturing. Your best bet is to look on the internet or go to one of the diy stores. You can pick up a 600mm base unit for £50 with door and hinges comes to about £100.
