Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.47 PM
Hi, I turned my shower on this morning and it runs fine then suddenly the water pressure increases the water runs faster and there's a loud humming coming from the pipes or water pump and also the water keeps pulsating. I've check the toilet and all the sinks everything else runs fine. Is something that fixed easily?

There is air in the system being caused by lack of water entering it,the pump is trying to pump air, that's why it's pulsating, check the cold water storage tank in the loft, it's the bigger tank of of the two, and ensure that the ballvalve is not stuck, or it may be blocked by scale debris if you've recently turned your water off, which has then blocked the valve internally as it should be letting a constant flow of water to replenish the tank.....a reputable plumber would be able to fix this quickly and easily....hope this helps..

Lack of water/air going through pump,is pump cold supply from dedicated feed from tank,is tank big enough, bearing in mind the tank is supplying cold to shower and hot water cylinder so when shower pump on it’s a fair amount of water being used
Has an appropriate flange been fitted on hot water cylinder to prevent air being drawn from cylinder into pump
