Best roller for smooth finish

Any advice on the best roller to use newly plastered walls in order for a smooth clean finish?

Plenty of good ( and these days relaively cheap) rollers out there. Purdy are good.
But the most important factor on a smooth finish is the paint you use for the mist coats. Use the correct paint for new plaster and follow the instructions on the tub regarding dilution.
Paint for new plaster is designed to be sanded so for a very smooth finish you can always lightly abrade with a fine grade and wipe down, prior to finish coats

Every decorator tends to have their personal favourite when it comes to roller sleeves as it depends on your decorating style and finish quality. For me it would either be a Hamilton perfection medium pile sleeve or a Purdy white dove. The Hamilton would be the better option on bare plaster as this sleeve allows for more paint application while leaving a good uniform finish. The purdy leaves a slightly better finish but would be better suited to walls already previously decorated. A sleeve will only account for part of the finished work, good prep and sanding between coats is also required for a good finish. Happy decorating

For new plaster you need to add 30% of water to the paint for the first coat and roller Purdy Colossus 12 “ the best finish.

i would suggest a short/medium roller sleeve
as this will give you a smooth finish without orange peel
hamilton or purdy are good sleeves
make sure you pre wash & scrape the new sleeve to remove the fluff
also need to roll the paint out on application

I always use purdy myself I find them to be the best for the price.

But to get a good finish its 90% prep work and a miss coat is vital

Hi I find a medium pile roller sleeve is always best for freshly plastered walls apply a mist coat to walls before Finnish coats use a diluted water based emulsion for mist Coat all decorators are different in their mist coat mix my personal mix is 60% emulsion 40% water if unsure you can buy a ready mixed mist coat off the shelf at any decorator centre

The 3 main roller sleeves I use are Arroworthy, Wooster and Two Fussy Blokes all of them are fantastic, fantastic flow, non drip, excellent finish.
Always give new roller sleeves a wash out and spin before first using them.
