Quality of paint

I wanted a deluxe paint for my dining room and the salesman has sold my husband Valspray paint. Is the quality as good ?

Hi, Valspray paint isn’t the best. The salesmen should have known that there are much more deluxe paints out there. But at the same time it isn’t the worst paint. So it’s all about what type of chemicals are in the paint.

It what you are referring to is Valspar then it's average from personal opinion. Much better choice of deluxe paints out there. They have also just gone into partnership with B&Q, A DIY store, so it says alot about the brand for me

Valspar paint is good but depends on the version, I have used it many times and it covers well and you can mix any colour. Blends v500 (bathroom and kitchen) and premium blend v700 are good paints but i would never use their trade paint, its very poor in comparison.

Dulux is hard to beat and can be expensive, Valspar isn't 1 of my choices a Homebase brand OK for DIY , Dulux, crown, are better quality but you can't always get the choice of colours, as mainstream stores, trade is always better quality in my experience .

Which valspar paint? For what areas? Broadwall? Trim?
Valspar v700 , trade matt emulsions i have never had a problem with.
V500 emulsion is also good.
But it is sold in a diy store, if you want quality paint in the future then locate and use a good independant decorators merchant.

Val spar is a good a paint then any in my opinion it has improved over the years when i have used it, it isn't a trade paint so it won't always be a good as finish as the trade paint.

From a Professional point of view also with Experience with using the Valspar brand I’ll recommend Valspar over Deluxe You get different grads iv used all of them before it’s VERY GOOD paint. It
covers very well and has a nice finish when dry. As from a salesman stand point he should explain why he recommends the Valspar brand over the Deluxe brand not just sell you a paint with out giving the Appropriate reason why there Recommending that Pacific brand then leave it to you to Decide. I’m sure you will have NO problems with using the Valspar brand paint.

The "Valspar" brand has been going for over 200 years! They even painted the old red London iconic busses... Moving on to the modern ages i have used the brand on many occasions domestically and my clients have always been happy with the results. I have read bad reviews however i personally think its quite a watery formula compared to a Dulux. The top tip is to always give the paint a good mix before application (preferably with a paddle mixer) and cover the surface with two even coats using sufficient drying times in accordance to the manufactures guidance. I hope this helps!
