Bathroom Fitting

Tiling a Bathroom

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 2.51 PM

Is there something that goes between the wall and tile for a bathroom? My worry is that if there is not, that it will increase the chance of getting damp.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

For tiling a bathroom, silicone generally always breaks down leaving small holes (sometimes invisible to the naked eye). This causes a capillary action, drawing water into the space between the tile and wall. Most causes of damp and leaks around baths and showers are caused this way. I only ever use Sealux Aquastrap for these reasons.
