Conservatories

Hi there, I've been left in the lurch slightly by a builder who bought me a conservatory from eBay (with my enthusiastic consent) and partly installed it into my back garden. But now, I have a half-finished conservatory and a totally unusable garden because it is full of building materials. Because he dug down through my patio to make a space for the conservatory, he shoved what was dug out under my lawn, so I can't even mow the lawn because it is now very lumpy. Does anyone have any advice for me given that I'm thousands of pounds down already and only want to be able to use the space. The conservatory needs a roof and a floor. Any help gratefully received. Thank you for your answer: There are foundations and a partial wall. I'm not worried about the foundations. A part of conservatory is standing, with some of the windows in. None of the roof is up. I need tiling for the floor and a roof really. The metal bits are there, but not the plastic.
It’s not very clear in your explanation what he actually did, or what you need an answer for, sorry I’ve tried to work it out, however you need to make sure there is a damp proof in the base, and that he put the correct base down otherwise you could have damp. Not sure otherwise what area you are talking about.

Tbh you’re probably better off getting the foundations checked. It’s sounds to me like you’ve been really unlucky. But if you carry on and install the rest of the conservatory. You may face even more trouble as it could subside. So unfortunately it’s best to bite the bullet and get it checked out just in case. It probably won’t cost much but it will put your mind at rest. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. On the roof aspect you need to check that you have all of the parts as buying this sort item on eBay can be a problem as there are lots of nuts bolts etc. Good luck with it going forward just a shame you’ve had this problem. Builders like them give everyone a bad name. Hope this helps

Well from what you stated in your letter you would firstly need to ask for an experienced Conservatory Surveyor/Installer to check the foundations and brickwork that is in place along with the product supplied to make sure this Conservatory is fit for purpose and then provide you with a cost to supply and fit a new roof along with the other work involved. With regards to the earth or waste that has been built up from the foundations well there are companies that will remove that for you obviously at a cost. With regards to your lawn well a landscape gardener could rectify that for you. I hope this helps but it needs to be looked at for further advice.
