What’s the best render ?

Anonymous user 15/03/2024 - 2.51 PM

I have a large extension that will require rendering very soon ( open time quotes ). Just wondering what people recommend and why. Traditional fined down sand and cement render or the new types of render Parex ect ?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

For excellent and maybe the best of the best in terms of durability, I would use a sand / cement render made with snowcrete and a bit of lime. Gives an off white finish all the way through with no painting.

Hi. All renders are great to use but my advice would be the match any existing render on the property. If there isn't any then I would definitely go with a k rend. You can choose what colour you want and it gives a great finish. Hope this helps you

Self colour renders like K Rend etc look great but two issues for me on such products. 1. If you get any cracks at a later date then patching and repairing is difficult as blending is not great 2. If you have trees nearby then in time your render will discolour. Some of these products state they are 'self cleaning'. That is very debatable in my opinion. Traditional sand and cement works very well in my opinion if applied well.
