How to get rid of bad smell on a carpet

My real young nephew threw up on a carpet in the bedroom and despite all cleaning - there is still lingering stench.
Are there particular cleaning products that are recommended for this?

Unfortunately it’s going to be difficult to get rid of residual contaminants. If you have access to a bissel carpet cleaner try using some 1001 may take a few attempts but you’ll have to let carpet dry between attempts if you overdo it you run risk of damaging carpet. I have managed to extract rotten milk from parents car this way and successfully. Must be an extraction system and if got a clear nozzle you’ll be able to see how much your drawing out. When I was cleaning carpets I swore blind by Pro Chem products and maybe able to get a more commercial product to pull out problem odour quicker. Only quick fix would be a professional carpet cleaner and no guarantee that problem solved on first visit.

Hi there

You might find that the sick has gone through to the underlay so you might find that lifting the carpet and replacing the underlay in the effected area may help. Or try the stikatak cleaning spray foam which is available in the B&Q flooring department.
Hope this helps

Your best bet would be to call a professional carpet cleaner, I’m sure they could handle it.

You need to change a patch of the underlay because it will soak up the sick and stay there and then clean the carpet and that should get rid of it

The smell is probably coming from the underlay change it and use a mild solvent to get between the fibers
