Any reason for a deadleg?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.22 PM

I was under my suspended timber floor at the weekend and noticed a ~4 foot deadleg running from a T-junction that also feeds the hot water to my bathroom sink. Is there any good reason for this or can i safely cap the pipe at the T-junction? The plumbing was only installed ~18 months ago.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If you have no need for a hot water faucet to be piped elsewhere, have it cut to the minimum and capped, don't do it yourself though if you have not got the tools or skills

If that pipe is just a dead leg then yes you can certainly cap that pipe further back. As a side note if the tee is a compression joint I recomend removing that as well for a solder joint under the floor.
