Gas Works

What could be wrong?

Please can you help. Re Micron Gloworm Fixed Flue 50FF Boiler. It fires on reset but when turned on it fires once for a short time. Burner comes on then it stops. Room thermostat set to 25 degrees C and ambient temp is 18.5C. Water cold. Whether the central heating and water is switched on, or just water, or just heating, at the programmer it still does what I have described above. Addendum:- Just got it going and has been firing like mad. So tis problem is intermittent. Would it still be likely to be the FSD if that was the case. PS The water won't heat up unless the heating is on. It could be also the motorised valve for the water is faulty or the motor is no good.

It could possibly be the FSD inside the burner. I could be wrong, how ever due to them being constantly in heat they tend to bend and drift apart meaning flame sensing isn’t happening, which would mean getting them changed. I change them on boiler services over a few years old. I’d recommend a gas safe registered engineer take a look for you.
