Garage conversion roof

Hi, we have a detached house with attached single garage with concrete flat roof. We are looking to convert garage into a room. But we would rather have a pitched roof. Do we need planning permission to change the roof? Thanks Kez

Hi Kez,
this depends on a few factors is your Garage within 1m of your neighbor, as a rule your local planning inspector will be very helpful, a call to your local building control office will give you a honest answer, ask for planning department, I would say 99% its fine but if you asked me to do the job I would make the call myself 1st before quoting
