Bathroom Fitting

Which order?

Anonymous user 3 March 2024 - 2.48 PM

Right we have a bathroom suite but we need to have the bathroom pastered first. Just wondering what order to have done. We are wanting the walls half tiled all the way around but to go higher around where we want the bath and shower screen. So I am thinking does the bathroom suite have to be full fitted before the tiler comes so that he/she knows where the screen is going? Thanks

Sorry but looking at some of the comments you are wrong, i have been fitting bathrooms for over 20 years so here it goes. 1. plaster walls 2. paint 3. battens for tiles, never tile off a bath, no bath is level. 4. tile, but leave 1/2 tile for tiling down to bath. 5. install basin, ped and wc together with 15mm board for bath to stop bounce. 6. battens for bath normally set at 510mm 7. thick mastic bead on battens, while mastic is wet install bath, this will then form your first seal for the bath. make sure bath is secure. and level. 8. Once bath is in mastic to top edge of bath to wall, (2nd seal) 9. Tile down to bath, let dry grout and clean. 10. Mastic between bath and tiles. 11. dont forget to mastic the basin. 12. job done. Hope this helps

Right then step one: remove old suite if it is a straight swap just put new bath into position piped up. Step two : plaster walls Step three : tile walls Step four : fit toilet, basin, shower and shower screen Step five : paint If it is not a straight swap things are a little different, all depends on the job. Hope this helps.

bath needs to be fitted and level so the tiles can be cut to the bath rim however the wash-hand basin and wc can be fitted after the tiling has been done this gives a neater finish round the basin and wc cistern

it's not so much a case of no bath being level, they rarely have a perfect straight edge to work from
