Broken tile mosaic

I have a flooring project of a large scale broken tile mosaic pattern, each piece around 25-30cm in width. Is it possible to purchase white tiles 600x600 in size and hammer it down to irregular pieces or is there any other specialist company that supply such tiles? Would the cost be significantly higher? Many thanks.

I'm not sure on a specialist company doing this, there may be one. But if you do end up breaking them up just be careful. Porcelain tiles are razor sharp on the cut edges and release tiny shards that will easily pierce the skin like splinters. Just take time and care. Jamie
