Central Heating

Radiator clicking/ticking and loud banging noise

Anonymous user 15 March 2024 - 2.43 PM

I moved into a Victoria terraced house and the radiator in master bedroom is making "ticking" noise and followed with loud banding noise when the heating is on early morning. the radiator looked reasonable new and in good condition. I have read about the air bubble trapped in the radiator but the radiator was bleed a month ago before I turn on the central heating. Every morning I woke up the the banging noise. It started with "ticking", "clicking" noise and then joined by loud banging noise at interval. HELP!!

Does the sound occurr when the heating comes on? pipe work and radiators expand as they hear up and sometimes if the pipes carrying hot water to the radiator pass through holes in timber joists which are too tight a knocking or banging sound can be heard. The ticking sound you describe sounds like the radiator expanding slightly. I hope this helps.
