We have a fire door that we had trimmed down when we got a carpet fitted. How big a gap is allowed at the bottom for it to pass fire safety tests? And does an intumescent strip need fitting underneath?
British standards (BS9999:2008) recommends for fire doors with cold smoke control that the threshold gap should be either less than 3mm in height or should be fitted with a threshold seal.

BuryI would leave a gap no greater than 8mm from the bottom of a fire door, unless you require smoke control doors then 3mm and fit a threshold smoke seal. Hope this helps :-)

Underneath the fire door, a gap of 8mm is traditionally acceptable, although for fire doors that are required to limit spread of cold smoke only 3 mm is permissible with a threshold seal to be fitted if the gap is bigger.

The gap between the bottom of the fire door to the floor should be between 6 mm to 8 mm the meet that right fire regulations
