Skirting board shortening

Hi, here's a tricky one ! How would you shorten a skirting board in situ ? To make way for a new fireplace ?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

You can use a multi cutter if you have a steady hand.

Multi tool is the right shout for this job I’d use a new bit and maybe a very sharp chisel to finish depending on how big the area is.
