Marks/chips on new glass unit

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 3.40 PM

I have recently had an extension and sliding doors put on. One of the glass units has had a mark/scratch on it 4 times and they have replaced it, the most recent one has again a mark bugger than 30mm, and a small chip, that you can sometimes see when the light catches it in the right place. They are now saying that I have to stand at least 2 metres from the unit and look through the glass and not at the scratch/chip. When I do this I can see it because I know where it is but they cannot see it as they don't know where it is and therefore do not focus on it. They are saying the unit is fine, whilst I am still not happy. What are my rights? Am i being picky? I am refusing to sign off on the job until it is perfect.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Mark & Laura, Hi, you are absolutely within your rights to complain about it, what they are quoting you is from GGF guide lines. there are different guide lines for different types and size of glass. So im afraid, potently depending on there T&C'c and what you have agreed in your contract they may not change your unit. Please feel free to contact me if you require any help or advice. I would be happy to help. Stuart

You have every right to be picky, no matter how big or small the damage, if you are not 100% happy I would not sign off the work either, if I was the builder I would make sure you are completely satisfied with the work that’s been carried out, if not I would put it right
