Blocked sewer drain

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.18 PM

We have two manholes with our extension, which was already in place when we bought the house a few months ago. We have already had one blockage between the two not long after we moved in (which the water board cleared), but it smells like it may be blocked again! The sewer channels are quite small - how do we clear whatever keeps causing the blockage without calling out dynorod every month? I’m guessing there must be maybe some building rubbish down there that keeps stopping the waste from passing through. We’ve been very careful what goes down the loos since the last blockage. Want to avoid taking up the kitchen floor if possible. Thanks

Although I'm writing from Dyno-Rod and we would be more than happy to attend each month for you, its not going to help you or our reputation! We, as any other reputable drainage company, will always look to find the root cause and offer a solution to the problem. This is a process of elimination but that doesn't mean it will be expensive. The first step to finding the problem here is to feed a drainage CCTV camera along the drain in question to see if you have an issue with the pipework itself. This can be fed into the drainage system from an external manhole. This investigation will give you some indication of the problem and you can then review your options at that point. Even if the drainage needs repairing it doesn't mean digging the kitchen floor up any more. A lot of drainage companies, including ourselves, can carry out drainage repairs without the need for digging. I would recommend you have an experienced drainage engineer attend who has some camera equipment on board. He then assess the situation and carry out a drainage CCTV survey. Regards, Richard.

Have your drains inspected with CCTV, sometimes High Pressure Water Jetting can remove a problem it may be your drains require a good clean to remove a build up of foul waste which sometimes reduce the diameter of the carrier pipe.
