Plumbing

do i have to pay

Anonymous user 23 February 2024 - 3.17 PM

I asked a plumbing firm if they could send out a plumber to fix a shower valve that had started to leak. A plumber came out, looked at the, admittedly vintage, shower valve, said he couldn't do anything, and left. I have been charged for this. Do I have to pay? No advice was given or anything.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Good Morning, Some plumbers do charge a call out fee even if no work is undertaken but this should be clearly explained to you when you called the plumbing firm. If you weren't told this when you initially rang then I would refuse to pay.

Depending on the agreement you had, if it was an emergency call out then yes, if they said "will pop over to have a look without charge" then no you don't pay a penny. It depends on your agreement with the tradesman. Take care
