Polished Concrete Flooring

Does anyone know an inexpensive easy way to get a small area of existing concrete floor to the effect of polished? Finding someone to do it is pretty difficult where we are and renting of concrete floor grinders are also quite expensive.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Polished concrete is usually formed to my knowledge.
You may be able to get a flooring compound that dries with a shine and possibly buff it?
If it's possible it would be very difficult to polish a fully dried concrete floor without adding to it.
Polishing works by taking off tiny imperfections or by filling in tiny voids/hollows.
