Plastering & Rendering

Raised bumps appearing on plaster

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 3.38 PM

Had a room plastered approx 18 months ago and recently noticed some raised bumps on the wall and it appears to be spreading. Picture in the link below https://cdn.pbrd.co/images/HoxF17R.jpg Is this down to the plastering work or is there somethinh else behind it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there, looks like you have some dampness getting in. Is that wall an external wall so brick outside? Regards Gary

Definitely caused by some damp in the wall, possibly hot/cold pipes buried in wall close to surface, if an external wall rain soaking through if solid brick work, or leak in roof behind guttering letting water run down cavity.

If it was an overskim you had done it could be paint lifted or paper not removed prior to the skimming.

Agree with gmi plastering & refurbishment. The only degree that anyone can answer this is to suggest an adhesion issue on origional application of the re-skim. To state damp/water ingress is pure speculation
