Integrated Bath Filler Flow Rates Vs. Wall Spout

Anonymous user 15 March 2024 - 2.39 PM

Hi, We are going to be renovating our family bathroom and are looking at installing a Grohe Smart Control 3 Way Mixer to control 1) Over head shower, 2) Hand Shower, & 3) the bath. I’m a little worried that the bath may take forever to fill up using this mixer so looking for any advice from others Also, and more importantly, we are considering either an integrated bath filler (Villeroy & Boch, made by Viega I believe), or a wall mounted path spout. My wife seems to think that the integrated bath filler may fill even slower than a standard tap would. Is this true? I contacted V&B and they say that the bath filler doesn’t have any flow rate stats since its governed by the mixer and pipe work - not the tap/filler? To give an idea of our setup, our house is 16 years old. It had an old gravity fed system that we changed for a high pressure system. We have a horizontal hot water tank in our loft which is set around 2 bar. As for the cold water I guess this is all directly off of the mains as our old cold water storage tank was removed - the pressure of this is 3+ bar I believe All advice would be gratefully received

Hi, The pipe sizes are important with flow rate, but seeing as you have up to 3 bar pressure i do not think you should have any problems whether your feeds are 15mm or 22mm, very important is to make sure any debris are flushed out the supply pipework before the valves are installed, or you could get debris build up in the valve filters and this will certainly reduce your pressure.
