Certificate needed for removal of gas fire ?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.37 PM
I’ve been having some work done on my house and to make more room in my loft conversion the builder suggested removing the gas fire and the flue . I agreed and it was done, we now have an electric fire .Should I have received a certificate for the fire decommissioning?

In regards to gas safety,
In you annual gas safety certificate, the pipe works will be checked and if the fire is capped off properly and safely is important here.

We do not issue certificates to de-commission any gas fired appliances, but as long as the fire removal and all associated works was carried out by a Gas Safe engineer in a safe manner they you have no need for concern.
