Fitting an access door to integral garage

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 3.37 PM

I was interested in getting an access door fitted from the house to the integral garage At the moment there is no door and access to the garage is through front big roller garage door. Are there any planning permission or building regulations involved? Would self closing FD30 fire door along with smoke seals sufficient enuf ?? is anything else is missing/involved??

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. You would require a building notice or building regulations to carry these works out. Also, the opening size to know type of lintel to be installed and door frame. The door would require to be a minimum 30min fire door with intumescent strips fitted around with a perco/ door closer, but all depends what the garage is being use for. If unsure, always best to check with your local council building regulation department. Best to do it once and carried out correctly.
