2 x 2 grey slabs to be laid.

Ok done slabs before and laid indian sandstone . I have a friend wanting just 2" slabs laid. Always put hardcore down on top of weed fabric ,then layer sharp sand with some cement through it ,then slabs. Sandstone done with a full wet mix.
Guy doesn't want hardcore , type 1 down .
He is sick fed up of dogs pooing on grass so wants it all lifted and the slabs laid . All it will be used for is for walking on and dog poo ! Any suggestions ?

Depending on the ground when you lift the turf.
If ground is okay then compact it and lay flags as normal but with a 4/1 sand cement.
Its not ideal not having subbase down but if its only for the dog to go on then it will be fine.

if its sole purpose is for dog mess and light wear, then I would compact the ground and lay. But I would always suggest subbase first.
