Tiling

2 cracked floor tiles

Anonymous user 15 March 2024 - 2.38 PM

I knocked something over in my bathroom floor a few days ago. I have noticed today 2 of the floor tiles have cracks right down the middle. They are quite big tiles 600 by 300 I think so it’s quite noticeable. Ones a middle tile and the other goes under the skirting board which was fitted after the tiling. I do have spare tiles but is this something that is able to be changed without damaging the other tiles around them? Thanks

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Yes this is possible by breaking up the damaged tiles along with the old adhesive and old grout. Then fit new tiles and grout and you would never know !

This job is easily done by a professional tiler, they will remove the grout surrounding the affected tiles, break the tiles out and remove the adhesive before relaying and re-grouting. No more than a few hours work. If the original tiles have been fitted fairly recently there's a good chance the fresh grout will match the rest of the tiling, otherwise it may take a while for the grout to 'weather' and blend back in.
