Gas Works

Certificate before letting out a property

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.55 PM

I am hoping to rent out a property in the coming week but the agent has said we need to have a relevant gas and appliance certificate - do I need to allow the agent to do this or could I post up a job on here and get it done ourselves? I am going to make a wild assumption that agent will take a cut from any work that is done, hence the push to go through them?

Hi there, As long as a certified engineer carries out the inspection, you will be fine and should save yourself the mark up from the agent. They will usually charge per appliance and give a minimum price. Post a job in here for a gas engineer to pick up. Hope that helps

I get a gas safe certificate every year through the agent and to date their has been no mark up on the price, it really depends on the clauses in your agreement with the agents. good luck alex
