Gas Work Question

How to stop wind causing whistling noise down boiler flue

My boiler flue comes out of a west facing wall, when it is windy this is causing a loud whistle in the flue. What's the simplest way to reduce the amount of wind getting in?

Check with the manufacturers of your boiler whether a plume management kit is available, if not altering the flue or restricting it in any way would be dangerous and may even cause it to stop working.

Hi.
If you have a back boiler with a chimney flue, you could change the cowl on roof(anti down draft) if you have a wall mounted boiler with a flue through the wall,in agreement with the other poster, you must not place anything near or around the flue terminal. you could move the boiler or have an A rated condensing model fitted with a plume kit, which would solve problem and save you hundreds a year.
hope helps
