Electrical

2 waying an existing switch

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.55 PM

I have a switch at the top of a ladder in a cupboard into a playroom in the attic but the kids don’t like climbing the ladder in the dark. How would I go about adding a 2 way switch at the bottom of the ladder. The feed is to the existing switch neutrals together live feeding the switch and switched live to the lights.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Well firstly, I would make sure there is a switch line and live cables at the switch. Then I will use 3 core T & E cable from switch, to switch using trunking or chasing the cable in the wall (on the cilents request). After this connect up 2xtwo way switches.
