Mounting 42" TV on plasterboard wall with metal studs

Anonymous user 28 February 2024 - 3.34 PM

I have purchased a swivel TV bracket from Amazon (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B010G6972O/) but when I went to install it I found out the studs behind the plasterboard wall are metal rather than wood. From what I've read these wont be strong enough to hold the 42" TV (and the weight of the bracket). What are my options? Do I need someone to remove the plasterboard and fit in some wooden supports? How much am I looking at?

Can you acquire some 25mm ply and put a panel across the studs so you can mount the bracket to it?

You can attach a length of timber horizontally across three or four studs so in affect you're bracing them together, spreading the weight of your TV across several studs. Hope this helps. Rob
