Bricklaying & Repointing

Lintols and dpm

Anonymous user 9 March 2024 - 2.54 PM

If I get catnic lintols above my openings, does that just go on top then brick on top of it or do I have to put dpm over it sloping down?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi when installing any form of catnic lintel a DPC needs to be installed, the lintel is placed on top of the brick work, then a course of blocks needs to be added to the inside leaf and then the DPC comes from this course down onto the lintel, make sure the end of the DPC turn up in a joint each end of the lintel to form the tray, then a weep hole is required ever 2 bricks in length. The only difference to this is if the lintel is at eaves height and there is no brick work above lintel on the outside. Plus when bricking above a lintel, once you start getting lintel over 1.8mtr span they need supporting while being bricked above to stop the sagging. Regards
