new oak flooring

Anonymous user 15 March 2024 - 2.35 PM

we have had our oak flooring laid and it looks good but some area of the wood seem to have a little squeak to them when you walk and you can see at times they dip a little? without removing all the flooring and doing it again how can this be made better?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

If it's close to the wall then you might only have to take a few boards up. It would be hard to fix it without taking it up. Any other way could effect the finish.

Hi Possibly too tight to the wall causing the bowing and squeaking. Floor could also be slightly uneven, causing a slight dip. You can run specialist saws along to wall to create a relief gap, then clean out after. Obviously with the skirting off first :) Hope this helps
