Shared Socket ring main

Hi Iv just found out my kitchen and upstairs sockets are fed from the same ring main. Is this normal and safe? Thank you

Hi, this isn't anything to worry about as long as it's labelled up corrected at the consumer unit and is supplied with a 32amp MCB. Ideally it is always best to have the upstairs ring on its own mcb and then the kitchen on another but together is safe.

Hi, this is particularly common amongst older properties where there was limited electrical appliances. There wasn’t a need to have the kitchen sockets on their own circuit like today because you may have only had 3 or 4 appliances. There is nothing wrong with having it together. - it just limits that half of your houses sockets to 32amps (providing it’s a ring main). And as per the previous answer it is definitely worth making sure it is labelled correctly as many people get caught out when isolating the circuit. 👍
